SA Five operates in various Industrial Sectors, many of which are described below, accompanied by our own Project photographs.
SA Five have participated significantly in this increasingly important Sector. ‘Renewables’ are anticipated to largely replace traditional fossil-fuels as a source of energy, and SA Five is well placed to contribute with our experience in this field. Be it wind, solar or water; SA Five can assist with your mechanical and construction requirements.
Since before the water crises in Cape Town of 2018, we have been offering water treatment and water clarification-related solutions. Utilising either HDPE, carbon, stainless or duplex materials / welding, we are able to contribute to the success of your water ‘problem’ solution, including:
- Supply / manufacture of customised modularised containers or skids – RO / UF / MF / RX / Clarifiers
- SWRO plants
- Water re-use projects
- Water ‘agitation’ works
Working either on a quick-turnaround mining vessel repair, a scheduled ‘in-port’ or the fabrication of a wet / dry mining unit, SA Five has the structural steelwork, platework fabrication and trial assembly expertise to assist you with your next project.
This Sector is really a ‘catch-all’ for any other work undertaken / projects that do not fall into another Sector, eg. SMPP (Steel, Mechanical, Piping & Platework) works in food / drink / raw material / glass manufacturing plants.
Oil & Gas / Subsea
We have all the internationally-required Codes and Standards to fabricate and construct for this specialised field. Examples of this include:
- Offshore process modules
- PLEM’s (pipeline end manifold)
- FLET’s (flowline end termination)
- ILT’s (in-line tee)
Ship and Rig Repair
SA Five has vast experience in this Sector; performing either extensive FPSO topside works, or ‘generic-type’ rig maintenance / repair works. Working as a sub-contractor for the likes of Dresser-Kellogg, Transocean, Pride, Schlumberger, Saipem, Saibos; we have undertaken numerous projects in the Ports of Cape Town, Saldanha Bay & Mossel Bay.
Having previously successfully completed works at the likes of Chevron / Astron and PetroSA, we have extensive experience of the required competencies for working in these environments.
Heat Recovery Systems
We have designed and installed heat recovery systems. By ‘recovering’ waste heat products, our Clients have saved large amounts of money by utilising this heat downstream as an alternative to procured traditional fuels. Our offering includes the design, engineering, fabrication and installation of heat exchangers and associated heat recovery elements.
Marine Fire Fighting
SA Five has successfully undertaken the installation of Marine Fire Fighting lines and equipment at the Ports of Cape Town and Gqeberha. These were at the Eastern Mole and Berth 100 respectively. These projects were undertaken as turnkey solutions; with the full provision of vertical lift pumps, engines / motors, piping, dosing, monitors, spray towers and control systems.
SA Five is an experienced contractor in this strategic discipline, having undertaken various routine / maintenance works over the last 2 decades, also including for Midrex shutdown and maintenance works, and primarily for Corex (melter-gasifier) reline works – including:
- Stave replacement
- Tap hole shell plate cut-out and re-instate
- Dome replacement
- Moveable platform design, fabrication, installation and operation
- Heat-up piping fabrication and installation
Apart from increased contributions to the Renewable Energy Sector (including our mechanical contract for the Ingula Pumped Water Storage Scheme), SA Five has a foothold in the ‘traditional’ Power Generation Sector. Predominant here, are our works for the Open Cycle Gas Turbine (OCGT) power units at Mossel Bay and Ankerlig (Atlantis). Works bordering this Sector include our significant involvement in the Gas-To-Liquids (GTL) plant at PetroSA (Mossel Bay). Increasingly as well, we are providing mechanical support for Waste Water Treatment Plants at Power Generation facilities.
