Project Description:
SA Five was the chosen Mechanical Contractor for this prestigious, showcase project. The plant was designed and ‘process engineered’ by Proxa on request of the V&A Waterfront.
The purpose of the facility is to provide 3.3 million litres of fresh water per day to the V&A precinct, reducing reliance on the City’s water supply and enhancing water resilience. This plant is part of the V&A Waterfront’s broader sustainability strategy, aiming to reduce water consumption and energy use.
Our Scope of Works was the supply, fabrication and installation of water treatment plant equipment including the mounting of mechanical equipment (tanks, pumps, filters etc.), installation of valves and instruments as well as the associated piping and pipe supports. A total of 1,200m of HDPE piping ranging from 63mm to 450mm diameter (with near to 3,000 welds) was fabricated and installed. 22 Tons of steel structures and supports were manufactured, galvanised, painted and installed.
SA Five were able to complete the project within the time requirements as well as within the stringent safety, environmental and quality objectives as set out by our Client.
